Austin, Texas is committed to reducing the amount of waste sent to area landfills by 90 percent by 2040 or sooner. Austin Resource Recovery, a City of Austin department, provides many services to help Austin achieve Zero Waste, including residential curbside collection of recycling, trash and yard trimmings. The department also offers free consulting services to help Austin businesses reduce waste and comply with the City’s recycling ordinances.

City of Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation
The City of Los Angeles has a goal to achieve Zero Waste by 2025, and leads the largest cities in the nation by currently diverting over 76% of its waste from landfills.
