The U.S. Green Building Council Zero Waste College and University Technical Council’s mission is to bring university and college facilities steps closer to Zero Waste. Understanding that universities and colleges are different in functionality from businesses, the TC aims to provide resources and tools that are specific to the university and college environment.

The Technical Committee will create tools and resources for colleges and universities to achieve a solid foundation to manage, record, and evaluate their Zero Waste best practices. These resources will help universities and colleges identify, improve, and evaluate sustainability practices in different types of campus facilities (e.g., auxiliaries, residential housing, dining facilities, sports facilities, etc.).

The executive committee of the TC has monthly conference calls and an annual retreat to discuss project details and progress.

The ZWCUTC has held several workshops at the U.S. Zero Waste Business Council annual conferences and others. You can find information on previous workshops in the past event archives.
